Healthy Homemade Nesquik Milk

As a kid I loved Nesquik strawberry milk. Do you guys remember when Nesquik syrup used to come in bunny shaped bottles? I used to love those bottles so much that I would call it “bunny milk”!

Strawberry Milk - Healthy Homemade Nesquik Recipe (2)

Lately I’ve had a craving for Nesquik but I wanted to make my own Strawberry Milk recipe with fresh strawberries and simple ingredients that I felt good about. This has become one of my family’s favorite Summer drinks when we’re picking strawberries from the garden (along with Strawberry Donuts and Strawberry Jam).

This makes 6 ounces of strawberry syrup, good for about 4 servings. The syrup can be stored in your refrigerator for 1-2 weeks. Feel free to double or triple the recipe if you want to make even more!

My daughters love it for breakfast or for a snack, but it’s even good for a dessert! I hope you make it soon and enjoy those nostalgic Nesquik memories!

Strawberry Milk Ingredients

The ingredients for this Strawberry Milk recipe are super simple. You probably already have everything on-hand you’ll need for this drink.

  1. fresh strawberries (btw here’s my guide on how to store strawberries)
  2. sugar (or honey)
  3. water
  4. milk (dairy or plant based – your choice)

How to Make

Gather all of your ingredients and let’s get started with our delicious recipe!

The first step of this recipe is to boil the strawberries, sugar and water in a saucepan, simmering it for about 10 minutes.

Now transfer it to a blender and blend until smooth. Alternatively you could use a immersion blender (I love this tool, especially for soups!). Either way, the boiled mixture will be hot, so please be careful.

After blending the strawberry sugar mixture, you’ll end up with a syrup. To serve add about 3-4 tablespoons of the strawberry syrup into a cup of milk and stir to fully combine.

Sit back and enjoy your healthier homemade strawberry milk!

How to Store Strawberry Milk Syrup

This recipe yields about 6 ounces of strawberry syrup, which will make 4 servings. Store syrup in a covered container or mason jar in the refrigerator. This will keep for 1-2 weeks.

What kind of milk can I use?

You can use dairy milk or plant based milk for this recipe depending on your diet. You can easily make this recipe vegan-friendly by replacing the regular milk with any favorite non-dairy milk, like almond, oat, cashew coconut milk. My favorite to use is unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

I know just the little girl who would love this and I am sure even with the sugar it is much better for you than it’s cousin in the cute bunny bottle. Thank you for the recipe and entertain post as well.

Funny – we also called it Bunny Milk (only the strawberry Quik). My son came home from day care asking me to make “bunny milk” – I had to ask the day care lady what that was! He turns 21 in Sept. and I’m throwing him a bday party themed with all his childhood favorites made into foods. I happened on your post while searching for Strawberry Quick recipes! Just had to let you know that here in MI others called it ‘Bunny Milk’ as well (at least 8 kids who are all in their 20’s now and their parents 🙂 !!

I used to love this milk!! My mum always used to buy the chocolate flavoured one and I can vividly remember eating it by the spoonful. I haven’t had it in years, I’m so glad other people still crave this stuff when they’re no longer a kid! haha.

My boys are huge fans of strawberry milk. This is actually cheaper to make than having the milk man bring us the already made strawberry milk. They’d love to stirring it up instead. So doing this. Pinned. (=

That bunny is huggable. I know I’ll love this along with my boys, cause I do make something like this but with honey or maple syrup. I know sugar is way more yummier though.
My teen hates hates to eat fruits, but loves in smoothies and drinks like this.

I have never considered making my own strawberry syrup before. I love a good glass of strawberry milk, but reserve it for a guilty pleasure or when I’m *cough* hungover *cough!* I look forward to making this at home in the bright light of day! When you make it yourself, it’s healthy, right!?!?
