Gah, it seems Cartoon Network changed their schedule. According to the site, Ranger isn't showing today. :/ They're showing Destiny Deoxys at 5, though.

EDIT: Ooooor... not... TV Guide Channel's saying Ranger is showing after all.

Why is CN's schedule always so topsy-turvy? x,.x

Oh heck...4:30 EST, the time TV Guide says it's playing, and there's Ninja Turtles. I'm sorry, but a couple of ninja turtle episodes can wait.

Any word from their site (I can't navigate that mess) about when they will play it next?

EDIT: And there's Destiny Deoxys, at 5, as Little Brother said. This is ridiculous.

I know Yahoo TV states that Temple of the Sea should be airing.

Somewhat false advertisem*nt. That, or CN changes the line-up at the last minute.

Now I realize even more how worse Full Screen looks.

If anyone's wondering, the cable guide description for the movie is

"Ash and Lizabeth must help a Ranger protect the Manaphy egg from a pirate."

Nothing about May's role, and they again overemphasize Lizabeth.

Those Cable Guides are weird, they even suggested lesbian love for a Naruto episode.

*kills CN* what is their problem? I was all psyched up to watch Manaphy and now it's not airing. CN seems to have just as many problems with it's schedule as Fox does. Both the TV guide and the cable box said Manaphy.

So the "correct" crowd finally got what they wanted, and everyone else had to put up with black bars.

I'm sorry, but that drastically undercut my enjoyment of this. I am a viewer too and I count even though I'd rather see full screen picture minus maybe the corner of Judy's computer off the side. I suppose I will now get a lecture about how great widescreen is and how I've got to spend $3,000+ on a TV I neither need nor want just to get rid of the black bars.

Oh well, at least it's unlikely PUSA/TAJ will bend to the demands of the other crowd and start releasing everything subbed instead of dubbed.

Not like that was my only problem with this. The characters of the day---mostly Lizabeth's family and Phantom---were flat, two dimensional characters with nearly zero development at all. We learned that Lizabeth's family were descended from the People of the Water and ran the Water Show....nothing else. And Phantom? Gee, I wonder where he got the bracelet of the People of the Water. Guess the writers thought having him say "I went through a lot of trouble to get this" was enough. Jackie wasn't even much better but at least we learned why he became a Ranger. Manaphy's characterization was done well, though. Make the oft-done comparison to Jirachi Wish Maker; JWM had less characters (in fact, pretty much only Butler and Dianne) but those it had were developed well with strong backstories to drive their personalities and motivations.

At least Phantom was entertaining to watch.

The cast turned in a pretty decent performance overall. Really the worst part acting wise was when Phantom's voice randomly changed for absolutely no reason at all. Bonus points for the very amusing Heart Swap bits, where the voices were superb.

Am I the only one who wasn't bothered by the CG?

All in all, it was a decent effort, but it could've been much better. A couple of production errors joined with weak characterization really dragged it down. I had expected this to become tied with Wish Maker as my second-favorite movie but I unfortunately have to place it fourth, behind Lucario, Jirachi and Power of One in that order.

Oh well... here's to "Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai" reversing it all and showing us how great these movies can really be.

Maybe subbed to compliment the dubs, but who would be so stupid to want/expect subs rather than dubs? M09: Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea (3)

UncutPokemon...

But don't worry TGB, looks like the DVD will be Widescreen?

Would it be that much trouble to release BOTH versions, I ask? Other movies do it. Everyone's happy!

It's simple. Would it be so difficult for them to simply put "Movie-Widescreen" and "Movie-Fullscreen" on the DVD's menu? It's not like they're loaded down with bonus features.

What's so frustrating is that this is an issue where everyone can win easily, yet that doesn't happen.

My cable guide is usually spot on accurate . . except when it comes to the names of specials.

They called this, "Pokémon Ranger: Sea"

Is it true? Is it really widescreenon the DVD? First, sorry, those who like fullscreen releases, but we widescreeners have waited far too long; maybe one day they'll find a balance, but for now, just be happy for those who've wanted widescreen for so long and finally get it. Second, it seems the almighty Bulbanews isn't infallible after all...

No. You can't make me be happy for someone else's gain at the expense of my own enjoyment of the movie.

I love how the widescreen crowd declares victory and acts like the people who don't like widescreen don't exist or count for anything. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I really am not a true fan if I don't want widescreen like everyone else. Maybe I really am not worth being considered a viewer like everyone else.

Wonder how long it'll be before they're all jumping down my throat...

Well, seeing as you probably consoled us in our plight when we wanted widescreen but were forced to watch fullscreen year after year, and really tried to help others feel better about it (which I'm sure you did, for sure), I guess it's only fair that we console you in your time of need. Again I say, I really hope they find the balance one day. Hey, maybe you or a friend could pan-and-scan the movie yourself, make it how you want.

Hit the "zoom" button on your DVD player's remote when you get the DVD. That'll make it full screen.

He said before it's not good enough. Nice try, though.

No one's saying "instead of". We're saying "with".

And Phantom? Gee, I wonder where he got the bracelet of the People of the Water. Guess the writers thought having him say "I went through a lot of trouble to get this" was enough.

I think it would have been interesting if he was *also* a descendant of the People of the Water. He did have the darker skin, but that could have just been his hat casting a shadow...
