This bread was super easy and a big hit with my family. I didn't have self-rising flour on hand; so, I sub'd 1 c whole wheat flour, 2 c all purpose flour 4 tsp baking powder and 3/4 tsp kosher salt. I used Sam Adam's White Christmas. My loaf came out to ~24 oz (2 oz/slice) I will make again. - 12/3/13

Easy and delicious. I made my own self-rising flour by adding 4 tsp baking powder. Added 1 tsp salt. Used 1/4 c sugar, still quite sweet. Subbed 1/2 c Red Fife whole wheat flour and 1/4 c. buckwheat flour for 3/4 c of white flour. Poured the melted butter over as suggested. Used dark beer. Delish! - 2/20/20

This bread was easy to make, and was a big hit. I tried it out on Saturday, and then was asked to make it again on Sunday because the first loaf was all gone. To set expectations, the picture they used was from some other generic bread. This bread looked more like an enormous biscuit. YUM! - 2/15/16

Disappointed the bread was so heavy, dense and sweet. Recipe didn't mention if the beer should be room temp or cold, I made mine at room temp. I still have half a bottle of beer left I will try it again "flat" & left dough rest for 30 min before baking to see if that helps. Going to cut sugar to. - 2/18/19
